US President Messages Morsi

US President Barack Obama has sent a message to Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi ahead of the new Egyptian leader’s meeting with the Saudi king.

US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns is currently in Cairo to meet with Morsi and a wide range of other Egyptian leaders, politicians, and civil society representatives during a two-day visit, AFP reported on Saturday.

The US Embassy in Cairo said in a statement that Burns will convey a message from Obama to Morsi.

Egyptian media outlets reported that he met with the caretaker pope of the Coptic Church, Bishop Pachomius, on Saturday.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is also scheduled to visit Egypt on July 14 and will most likely meet Morsi.

The new Egyptian president will travel to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday on his first official trip abroad since being sworn in.
