WhatsApp back online in Egypt after one hour outage

Many users in Egypt and neighboring countries experienced  on Sunday an outage of the popular messaging service, WhatsApp, for an hour before the issue was fixed and the app returned to normal functioning.

In a statement, a WhatsApp spokesperson said that users of the app around the world experienced a brief outage that has now been resolved, according to Reuters.

WhatsApp, a unit of Facebook Inc, has 1 billion daily users worldwide, according to the company, malong it among the most popular messaging services.

In early December 2017, WhatsApp services were back online for its 1 billion daily users after the app experienced an unexplained outage for a brief period.

Similarly, on November 3 2017, WhatsApp users were able to send or receive messages after a brief outage in Pakistan and several other countries.

Beyond Pakistan, there were reports that WhatsApp was not working for users in the UK, Singapore, India, the Middle East, and Ukraine.
