WHO welcomes Egypt’s decision to receive patients from Gaza

The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomed Egypt’s decision to receive 81 injured from the Gaza Strip for treatment.

According to press release, WHO has supported the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population in planning and establishing a comprehensive medical evacuation system, and training health care staff.

WHO and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society are currently working on providing psychological trauma support services to patients.

There are also 65 ambulances available and equipped with full resuscitation and life support capabilities.

The ambulance teams include trained emergency doctors and paramedics with advanced life support training.

Al-Arish Hospital is set to be the main first referral hospital, with fully equipped resuscitation and intensive care facilities, as well as a range of surgical teams to manage severe injuries, like major trauma and burns.

The Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 8,500 civilians so far, half of which are children.

There are over 23,000 wounded, and more than 1,800 missing under the rubble.
