World Trade Organisation delegation to visit Egypt this week: minister

A high-level delegation from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) will visit Cairo this week to review Egypt’s trade, economic, and investment policies over the past years, the country’s Minister of Trade Tarek Qabil announced Friday.

The delegation will hold three-day intensive meetings with officials from all Egypt’s ministries and entities concerned in order to tackle the measures and laws adopted recently by the Egyptian government as part of its economic policy.

Members of the delegation will also be posted on the government’s economic and social programme in the coming period, the minister added.

Qabil further said that this periodic review, conducted in all members of the organisation, is important for assuring Egypt’s commitment to the WTO agreements and for considering the common impact of Cairo’s trade policies on the multilateral trading system.
