WUF12 preparations on track for November forum – minister
Preparations for the World Urban Forum (WUF12) are in full swing, Egypt’s Minister of Local Development, Manal Awad announced on Tuesday.
Egypt is set to host the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) from November 4-8 at the Al Manara International Conference Centre, under the theme “It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities.”
The forum will feature 560 events, six high-level dialogues, and nine special sessions addressing global urban challenges and sustainable development.
Discussions will encompass Egypt’s rapid urbanisation, social justice, and climate change adaptation, along with initiatives like the New Urban Agenda aimed at building resilient and inclusive cities.
With over 10,000 participants from 160 countries already registered, WUF12 marks a significant moment for Cairo, making it the first African city to host the forum since its inception.
The event will also highlight Egypt’s efforts in green transformation and improving living standards, with a youth volunteer program managed by the National Alliance for Civil Work. A global press conference is expected soon to provide further details on the event.
