100,000+ march in London for a free Palestine

More than 100,000 marched through central London on Saturday to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a free Palestine.

According to The Guardian, many of them were expressing fury at the UK government’s refusal to back a ceasefire.

This is a new record for a pro-Palestinian march in UK’s history.

James Cleverly, the foreign secretary, said that calls for a ceasefire “aren’t going to help the situation”.

The former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn addressed protesters in Parliament Square, saying: “It’s not much to ask, a ceasefire, when children are being killed by weapons coming through the rooms of their homes.”

“It is an eternal stain that the British government abstained on that vote.” he added.

The Israeli aggression on Gaza started 22 days ago, killing more than 7,700 innocent civilians and wounding more than 20,000.
