105 Egyptian Fishermen are detained in Sudan

Sudanese naval authorities detained three Egyptian fishing boats with 105 fishermen aboard, the head of the fishermen’s union in Egypt’s northeastern Suez province said Wednesday.

“The Sudanese authorities accused the Egyptian fishermen of unauthorized fishing in Sudanese territorial waters,” Bakri Abul-Hassan said in a statement.

He insisted that the three fishing boats were sailing in international waters, not Sudanese territorial waters.

Sudanese naval forces, Abul-Hassan said, opened fire on the boats.

No casualties were reported in the shooting
