3,566 buildings finalised in Abu Dhabi in 2018: ADSC

A total of 3,566 buildings were completed in Abu Dhabi last year, clocking a monthly average of 297.1 and a daily average of 9.7, according to the Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre (ADSC).

Al Ain topped the region in terms of the number of buildings that were constructed in the emirate totalling 1,844 while Abu Dhabi region witnessed the construction of 1,576 buildings and Al Dhafra region with 146 buildings, said the ADSC in its statement.

The spurt in the number of completed buildings in just one year reflects the strength of Abu Dhabi’s construction sector and is an indicator of market demand and private investments in the emirate, it stated in the report released ahead of the 10th United Nations World Urban Forum 2020 being hosted by Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi had last year reinforced its urban development to meet the requirements of population growth and enhance the process of sustainable development witnessed by its economic, services and social sectors, it stated.

It also strengthened its leadership in urban and sustainable development and attracted key experts and specialists from around the world in the areas of urban planning and sustainable urban development, to benefit from their expertise and create a sustainable urban environment, according to the best international practices, it added.
