$36.2 billion in Investments pledged for Egypt at Economic Meet – PM

Egypt’s Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said in a brief presser Sunday investments in the country at a three-day economic conference have reached US$36.2 billion.

He also stated that the figure covered contracts that had been signed and were ready to be implemented. He didn’t detail the contracts.

A tear-eyed Mahlab said his country is grateful to the world and allies for supporting the Egyptian economy, according to the Associated Press.

Four Gulf countries also pledged at the opening of the conference $12.5 billion in a bundle of aid and investment money.

Mahlab said another $23.2 billion were raised at the conference in terms of projects to be paid for by the government later, as well as grants.
