37% drop in allotment of residential plots in Oman in 5 months

Oman Housing Ministry allotted a total of 10,925 residential land plots across the sultanate of Oman till the end of May 2019.

This was 37.4 percent less compared to 17,447 in the same period of 2018, according to the statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The Governorate of Dakhliyah was allotted 3,127 residential plots, the highest among all the governorates.

This was followed by the Governorate of Muscat at 1,537 plots, the Governorate of North Sharqiyah at 1,431, the Governorate of South Sharqiyah at 1,141 and the Governorate of Buraimi at 1,104 plots allotted till the end of May 2019.

The governorates of South Batinah saw allotment of 1,103 residential plots, Musandam 470 plots, North Batinah 391 plots (except Sohar), Al Wusta 284 plots and Dhofar 224 plots.

The Governorate of Dhahirah was allotted 113 plots, the lowest among all the governorates.

Meanwhile, Muscat, Musandam and Al Buraimi witnessed an increase in the number of plots allotted till the end of May 2019, compared to the same period of 2018. Allotment of plots in the rest of the governorates showed a marked decline during the period of study.

The ministry allotted a total of 36,733 residential plots in 2018.
