171 new coronavirus cases in Egypt, highest daily toll

Egypt reported on Friday 171 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily toll since confirming the first infection in February, bringing the total to 2,844.

The North African country also revealed 9 new deaths linked to the novel coronavirus pandemic, bringing the total to 205, according to a statement by the health ministry.

Meanwhile, the total number of the fully-recovered cases climbed to 646 on Thursday, all have been discharged from isolation hospitals, it added.
