Egypt has not yet reached the peak of coronavirus infections, said Epidemiological Surveillance Officer at the World Health Organisation (WHO) office in Cairo, Omar Aboul Ata on Monday.
“We have a golden opportunity to reduce rates of infection with the coronavirus that we must seize,” Aboul Ata said during a telephone interview with local TV channel.
Precautionary measures taken by Egypt have helped lower the rate of infections, WHO official said, explaining that combatting the virus requires collective efforts that include the Ministry of Health and all members of Egyptian society.
Aboul Ata said that countries that have underestimate the pandemic are suffering from higher infection rates. He also said no country has a surveillance system enabling it to detect all infected cases.
