Global coronavirus cases top 7 million, deaths pass 402,000

Global coronavirus cases have topped 7 million, while the number of deaths has surpassed 402,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak started in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019 and has since then spread globally, hitting the world economy as countries placed largescale lockdowns in order to contain the spread of the virus.
