Germany’s KfW Development Bank signs €41.5 bln agreement to develop Egypt’s vocational education
Egypt’s Ministry of Education signed on Monday an €41.5 million ($47 million) agreement with Germany’s KfW Development Bank to develop and rehabilitate a number of applied technology schools and vocational education schools .
The agreement includes the establishment of two centres of competencies specialised in renewable energy and energy efficiency at applied technology schools in Hurghada and Aswan and the upgrade of a number of centres of competencies at vocational education schools in Greater Cairo, Alexandria, and Gharbiya.
The funding is divided into a soft loan worth EUR 20 million and a grant valued at EUR 18 million, provided by Germany, while Egypt will make an in-kind contribution worth EUR 3.5 million.
