Egypt’s President Sisi supports expansion of oil exploration by Italian Eni
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed support for the expansion of investment by Italian Eni in oil exploration and production fields, said spokesman Bassam Rady in a statement following a meeting with the firm’s CEO Claudio Descalzi in Cairo on Sunday.
Sisi urged continued cooperation with the company and the surmounting of any obstacles facing its operations, praising what he called the firm’s punctual commitment to implementing its flagships.
The meeting, which was attended by the Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Petroleum Minister Tarek El-Molla, and a number of Eni officials, was held to follow up on the company’s exploration and production activities in Egypt.
Claudio Descalzi voiced appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance toward Italy during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as lauding the precautions Egypt has adopted at energy sites.
The ompany is looking forward to continuing development of its activities in Egypt, particularly in the western region and in the Red Sea, Descalzi added.
