IKEA opens its second branch in Egypt

IKEA, the world’s biggest furniture retailer, opened on Wednesday its second branch in Egypt in in collaboration with Al-Futtaim Group and MARAKEZ for Real Estate Investment, a subsidiary of Saudi Fawaz Alhokair.
The new two-storey outlet, built over an area 20,00 square metres in Mall of Arabia in the 6th of October City, is expected to witness more than 3 million visitors in 2021, Vinod Jayan, Managing Director of IKEA for the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and Oman, said.
The IKEA store, which has been built over 18 months, will serve around 25 million people in west Cairo.
Speaking at a press conference, Jayan said IKEA has launched 1,400 new products in Egypt, bringing the total number of products to 7,500.
In 2013, the Swedish furniture seller opened its first store at Cairo Festival City Mall over an area of 32,000 square metres.
