France’s Alstom, Germany’s Siemens, and Spain’s Thales are competing to win €750 million tender to develop the Cairo Metro Line 1 linking Marj and Helwan, an official source told Amwal Al Ghad on Monday.
The sources added that the Ministry of Transportation is studying the technical and financial offers of the companies that submitted bids to compete for the tender, as it planned to settle on the winning offer in the coming period.
The Ministry will also determine which company will develop Cairo Metro Line 1, including changing the electrification of signals and communications, the sources announced.
In the same context, the Ministry is studying a proposal from the Japanese company, Mitsubishi to rehabilitate 32 metro trains in the first line, as part of the modernisation plan that the ministry aims to implement.
