Egypt receives Green Coffin from United States
Egypt has received on Monday the Green Coffin from the United States after judicial investigations lasted for more than two years between the two countries.
The coffin has been received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa.
The sarcophagus is almost 9½ feet long with a brightly painted top surface, may have belonged to an ancient priest named Ankhenmaat, though some of the inscription on it has been erased, the top official at the Supreme Council of Antiquities Moustafa Waziri said.

The Egyptian diplomatic efforts have succeeded in recovering the artifact, which is the cover of a wooden coffin from ancient Egyptian times illegally smuggled out of the country.
The coffin’s cover is three metres long as it made from wood covered in hieroglyphs inscriptions, and it is decorated with gold colour.
During 2022, Egypt also has restored 106 artifacts, including statue from New Zealand, two statues from Brussels, and a bronze statue of the goddess Isis from Bern Switzerland.
In September, Egyptian consulate has recovered of the cover of an extraordinary archaeological coffin belonging to one of the Herakleopolis, which was held by the Houston Museum.
In 2021, authorities in Cairo succeeded in getting 5,300 stolen artifacts returned to Egypt from across the world, as it recovered two archaeological statues of the Pharaonic era that were illegally smuggled into Belgium.
