Brazilian ride-hailing service app 99 plans to double EVs

Brazilian ride hailing app 99 is planning to double the number of its electric vehicles over the next year, with a goal of 1,000 vehicles, the company announced on Monday. The initiative also includes Banco BV, BYD, Caoa Chery, Movida and Raizen.

The Brazilian app, which is owned by Chinese DiDi, finalised the first year of the partnership with 485 EVs, according to Thiago Hipolito, 99’s director for innovation.

99 is aiming to have 10,000 EVs on its platform by 2025 and 100 percent of the fleet by 2030, with the EVs running on the app are only in Brazil’s financial capital, Sao Paulo.

The 99 app has invested $7.06 in sustainable mobility initiatives in the first year of the project.
