Austrian-Egyptian Amira El-Sayed to star in HBO’s Spy/Master

Austrian-Egyptian actress, Amira El-Sayed will be appearing in five of the first six episodes of HBO’s new series, Spy/Master, which will be released on HBO Max on May 19.

The series, which is based on a true story that took place in the 1970s during the Cold War era set in Romania and West Germany, will follow Victor Godeanu Ceausescu’s right-hand man, who is also a KGB agent.

The series is created by Adina Sădeanu and Kirsten Peter, directed by Christopher Smith, and produced by HBO Romania. The first two episodes of Spy/Master premiered in the 2023 Berlinale Series Award and received a nomination.

El-Sayed, who grew up in Alexandria then moved to Vienna, also appeared in A Hologram for the King with Tom Hanks.
