The UAE and France share a common vision of accelerating the shift to green energy to combat the growing consequences of climate change, Olivier Becht, France’s Minister of Foreign Trade, told Emirates News Agency on Friday.
The two countries are cooperating together to find low-carbon energy solutions, Becht added, stressing his trust in the UAE’s ability to successfully host COP28 at Expo City Dubai this November.
The UAE and France believe in accelerating the transition to green energy to face the growing risks posed by global warming, said Becht, highlighting the climbing numbers of natural disasters caused by climate change.
“The environmental challenges we face motivate us to be more courageous and committed in our actions to accelerate the energy transition. That is why the UAE and France have many joint projects in various fields, including hydrogen and nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, to produce clean energy that is the future of the sector,” Becht noted.
The relations between France and the UAE are deeply rooted, Becht concluded, mentioning that he has plans to visit the UAE to discuss ways to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.
