Egypt, US discuss ongoing cooperation towards zero carbon emissions

Egypt and the US reviewed their ongoing cooperation under the Global Methane Pledge and East Mediterranean Gas Forum’s (EMGF) decarbonisation initiative.

The revision was made during a meeting between the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el-Molla and Assistant Secretary for the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Brad Crabtree on Monday in Cairo.

El-Molla stressed on the importance of working with the US to provide the necessary solutions and technology to reduce methane, as well as collect, capture, and store carbon in the oil and gas sectors.

Crabtree praised Egypt’s distinguished efforts in the field of reducing emissions in the oil and gas industry, and its keenness on joining the global methane pledge, and the recent steps taken in the field of decarbonisation.
