CBE: banks loan jump to EGP 4.399 trln by Mar-end
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported on Thursday that the lending balances rose to 4.399 trillion Egyptian pounds by the end of March 2023, compared to 4.012 trillion pounds by the end of December 2022.
The figures recorded an increase of 386.993 billion pounds during the first quarter of the year, the report said that the government loans acquired 1.8 trillion pounds of total loan balances by the end of March.
While the non-government loans reached 2.599 trillion pounds at the end of the first quarter, compared to 2.408 trillion pounds at the end of 2022, of which 2.151 trillion pounds in local currency and 447.7 billion pounds in foreign currency.
