On Saturday, Giza Criminal Court, headed by Judge Mohamedy Konswa, acquitted the former Minister of Culture, Farouk Hosni, over the charges of illicit gains, as to EGP 9.813 million. The accusation, issued by the Illicit Gains Authority (IGA), has referred that Farouk Hosni had gotten about EGP 9.813 million illicit gains throughout the period from October 13th 1978 to January 31st 2011. The Illicit Gains Authority has issued before a decision to reserve the funds and properties of Farouk Hosni on the background of his referral to the criminal court over illicit gains accusations and fining him EGP 18 million. But Cairo Criminal Court has cancelled the decision depending on having no evidences that provide for gaining these funds illicitly.
