Egypt’s local and external debt per capita registered EGP 18,703 at the end of the last September, according to the recent report issued by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
Local debt rose EGP 93 billion (7.5%) to reach EGP 1 trillion and 331 billion at the end of last September, compared to 1 trillion and 238 billion at the end of last June.
External debt surged US$ 335.4 million (1%) to reach US$ 34.7 billion at the end of last September, compared to US$ 34.4 billion at the end of last June.
The value of external debt in local currency reached EGP 212 billion and 17 million, according to the foreign exchange rates in September. The total value of Egypt’s debt reached EGP 1 trillion and 543 billion at the end of last September.
