NCW’s Maya Morsy advocates for women’s empowerment

Geopolitical shifts have great impact on Egyptian women, particularly in the context of the ongoing Gaza crisis, said Maya Morsy, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), on Sunday.

Speaking at the Egyptian Women’s Summit, Morsy underscored the critical role the women in decision-making positions play in navigating these tumultuous times.

Competence and Trust: A Call to Action

Morsy emphasised that women possess the competence and ability necessary to earn trust and support from both the government and the presidency. As the world grapples with complex challenges, women’s voices and perspectives are invaluable. The NCW aims to empower women to actively participate in shaping policies and strategies, she added.

Labour Market Access, Private Sector Engagement

The most pressing challenge, according to Morsy, lies in accessing the labour market and effectively engaging with the private sector. She stressed the importance of qualifying women across all fields.

“By equipping women with the necessary skills and opportunities, Egypt can harness their potential for economic growth and development,” she said.

Accuracy, Honesty, Loyalty

Drawing attention to gender dynamics, the NCW president pointed out that women consistently demonstrate traits that are crucial for effective leadership. She highlighted their accuracy, honesty, and loyalty to their work. Notably, instances of bank failures have been relatively rare under women’s management, contrasting with historical patterns.
