Microsoft, Brookfield team up for renewable energy projects
Brookfield Asset Management of Canada, with support from tech giant Microsoft, is planning to establish new wind and solar farms, aiming to bring 10.5 gigawatts of power capacity online, The Financial Times reported on Wednesday.
The partnership between Microsoft and Brookfield is expected to fund the development of renewable energy projects from 2026 to 2030, starting in the US and Europe.
This initiative highlights the urgency to fulfil clean energy goals while meeting the high energy demands of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).
The new capacity of 10.5 gigawatts is projected to cost over $10 billion, based on current industry trends.
