Lebanon’s private sector contracts amidst geopolitical unrest – PMI

Lebanon’s private sector faced its steepest decline this year, with the BLOM Lebanon PMI survey reporting a rapid deterioration in April to a four-month low of 48.9.

The report indicates that escalating geopolitical tensions led to weakened demand, prompting the quickest drop in new orders and exports since 2022.

Business activity contracted in the country, though employment remained stable. Companies increased purchasing activity but faced challenges with supplier delays.

Moreover, pessimism looms over the 12-month outlook, underscoring the urgent need for stability measures.
