Egypt’s exports to international blocs in which it is a member state reached $42.0 billion in 2023, up 5.1 per cent from $39.9 billion in 2022.
The Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) remained the top destination for Egyptian exports, receiving Egyptian exports worth $13.3 billion in 2023, a 9.4 per cent increase from $12.2 billion in 2022.
Egypt’s exports to United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) region reached $10.9 billion in 2023, up 9.8 per cent from $9.9 billion in 2022.
Meanwhile, exports to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) surged by 17.4 per cent to $4.2 billion in 2023 compared to $3.5 billion in 2022.
On the other hand, Egypt’s total imports from these blocs decreased by 22.0 per cent to $37.5 billion in 2023 from $48.0 billion in 2022.
Egypt’s imports from the GAFTA dropped by 27.0 per cent to $12.4 billion in 2023 from $17.0 billion in 2022. Imports from the G15 decreased by 17.1 per cent to $10.3 billion in 2023 from $12.4 billion in 2022. COMESA’s exports to Egypt dropped by 19.7 per cent to $918 million from $1.1 billion in 2022.
