Eurozone investor confidence dips in July
Investor morale in the eurozone declined sharply in July, ending an eight-month trend of improvement, according to a Sentix survey released on Monday.
The Sentix index fell to -7.3 points from 0.3 in June, a steeper drop than the 0.0 expected by analysts. The expectation index also fell to 1.5 from 10.0, which Sentix described as “a bitter setback” and likely to concern forecasters.
The survey indicated concerns over French elections, upcoming German state elections, and uncertainty about the US presidential election later this year.
Germany’s economic sentiment, in particular, saw a decline, with the current situation index dropping to -32.3 from -26.3 in June, following three months of gains. The survey included responses from 1,140 investors between July 4-6.
