Foreign-branded smartphone shipments, including Apple’s iPhone, in China grew at a slower pace of 10.9 per cent year-on-year in June to 2.87 million units, a smaller increase compared to previous months,
Overall phone shipments in China rose by 12.5 per cent to 24.91 million handsets during the same period, as per data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).
This marks a deceleration compared to the previous two months, when shipments surged by more than 40 per cent each. Apple, as the dominant foreign smartphone player in China, significantly influences the overall performance of this segment.
While June data shows a slight increase, other research firms like Canalys reported a 6.7 per cent decline in Apple’s smartphone shipments in China during the second quarter of 2024.
