Dubai Airport duty-free now accepts roubles

Duty-free shops at Dubai International Airport started accepting cash roubles, as reported by TASS. According to a Dubai Duty-Free representative, travellers can use cash roubles to make purchases in most stores at the airport, starting August 1.

While the majority of shops are now accepting roubles, some stores in Terminal 2 have yet to implement this payment option. An employee at one of these stores said that they expect to enable rouble payments soon, pending resolution of technical issues.

Additionally, Dubai airport’s duty-free shops now accept Chinese UnionPay cards issued by Russian banks, although Russian Mir cards are still not accepted.
