Spain’s General Retail Trade Index (RTI) increased in July 2024 by 1.0 per cent year-on-year, up six-tenths from June.
The original RTI series showed a 2.8 per cent annual rise, a notable 4.2 percentage points higher than the previous month.
Monthly growth between June and July was 0.5 per cent, one-tenth higher than June.
Excluding service stations, the index recorded a 0.6 per cent monthly increase. Food sales rose by 0.6 per cent, while non-food products grew by 0.4 per cent.
Retail sales increased across all autonomous communities except Madrid, which saw a decline of 1.1 per cent.
The employment index in the retail sector grew by 1.8 per cent year-on-year, improving by two-tenths from June.
