Vietnam’s rice exports up 5.9% YoY in 8m

Vietnam exported 6.16 million tons of rice in the first eight months of the year, marking a 5.9 per cent growth compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The increase in rice exports brought in nearly $3.85 billion, a significant 21.7 per cent growth from the previous year. The average export price of rice also increased by 14.8 per cent to $625 per ton in the first eight months.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to export over eight million tons of rice and generate $5 billion in revenue by 2024.
