Three Egyptian ministers meet to enhance co-operation, urban development with UN-Habitat
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Badr Abdel-Aty met on Wednesday with Manal Awad Mikhail, Minister of Local Development, and Sherif Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.
According to Tamim Khallaf – official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on strengthening co-operation between the three ministries and promoting Egypt’s stance in international organisations.
They also explored opportunities for joint collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), particularly in the fields of urban planning and building inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities.
The ministers also discussed the UN-Habitat’s ongoing projects with the Egyptian government to promote sustainable urbanization and improve living conditions. They explored ways to apply international best practices in urban management to ensure equitable sharing of the benefits of urban growth, reduce social gaps, and provide a decent life for all citizens.
