Egypt, EU sign €7m green finance facility agreement
Egypt and the European Union (EU) sign on Sunday a €7 million Green Finance Facility agreement. The initiative, announced during Cairo Water Week, aims to support Egypt’s green transition and address key environmental challenges.
Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Rania Al-Mashat, and Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, signed the agreement.
The Green Finance Facility aims to support policy dialogue between Egypt and the EU in the areas of water and green transition. It includes a comprehensive technical assistance package to enhance the country’s capacity to develop sectoral strategies, improve water governance, and strengthen public-private partnerships. The facility, which provides €7 million in grants, supports Egypt’s efforts to combat climate change.
The partnership will foster collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and international experts to accelerate Egypt’s green transformation.
