Italy’s inflation slows in Sept. ’24

Italy’s consumer price index (NIC) reported a monthly decrease of 0.2 per cent and an annual increase of 0.7 per cent, down from 1.1 per cent in August, confirming earlier estimates.

The slowdown in annual inflation was primarily driven by falling prices in regulated energy products, non-regulated energy products, and recreational services.

Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, stood at 1.8 per cent, slightly down from 1.9 per cent the previous month. Inflation excluding energy was recorded at 1.7 per cent, down from 1.8 per cent.

The Italian harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 1.2 per cent on a monthly basis and 0.7 per cent on an annual basis, down from +1.2 per cent in August.
