European shares down on Wednesday midday
European shares declined on Wednesday as investors awaited US inflation data and analysed ongoing corporate earnings reports.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index slipped 0.38 per cent by midday GMT, with Germany’s DAX down 0.62 per cent and France’s CAC 40 also losing 0.38 per cent. Switzerland’s SMI fell 0.48 per cent, while Spain’s IBEX 35 recorded a smaller 0.06 per cent drop.
Meanwhile, the UK’s FTSE 100 was down 0.16 per cent. Markets remain cautious as they anticipate further insight into US. inflation trends.
