Egypt launches locally produced Exeed car
Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, attended the launch of the locally manufactured Exeed car on Sunday at the Egyptian German Automotive Company (EGA) factory.
During the event, El-Wazir emphasised Egypt’s growing collaboration with local factories to produce vehicles, noting that the proportion of locally sourced components in domestically manufactured cars continues to increase annually.
He highlighted the diversity of locally produced vehicles, citing models from Nissan, General Motors, and El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company, with local content exceeding 50 per cent. He also pointed out that the EGA factory produces premium passenger cars under the Mercedes-Benz and Exeed brands, catering to the diverse needs of the Egyptian market. This progress, he said, reflects the skill and expertise of Egyptian workers.
El-Wazir revealed that the factory currently produces 1,200 Mercedes-Benz vehicles and 3,000 Exeed vehicles annually, creating significant employment opportunities for young people and advancing Egypt’s position in the automotive sector.
