UK inflation rises in Oct. ’24

The UK’s Consumer Prices Index (CPI) increased by 2.3 per cent in the 12 months to October 2024, up from 1.7 per cent in September. CPI rose by 0.6 per cent monthly in October 2024, compared to little change in October 2023.

Core CPI, which excludes energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, rose by 3.3 per cent over the same period, up from 3.2 per cent in September. The annual rate for CPI goods improved from -1.4 per cent to -0.3 per cent, while the CPI services annual rate increased slightly from 4.9 per cent to 5.0 per cent.
