Egypt’s food exports reached 162,000 tons in the week through November 22nd, a 15.7 per cent rise from the previous week, as per a report published by the Cabinet. This figure reflects a wide variety of over 680 fresh fruits, vegetables, and other food items.
Egypt’s vegetable export portfolio boasted 60 varieties, with a total volume of around 40,000 tons. Sweet potatoes emerged on the top at 12,000 tons followed by onions with a total of 10,000 tons, and beans at 6,000 tons.
Last week, citrus fruits were the most exported with 10,000 tons, followed by mangoes at 6,000 tons, and strawberries at 5,000 tons. Around 35,000 tons of 34 fruit varieties were exported, the report showed.
Egyptian food exports cater to a vast international audience. During the week of November 16-22, shipments reached 172 countries. Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Russia, and USA emerged as the top destinations for this bounty of Egyptian produce.
