Laos posted a trade deficit of $154 million in September 2024, according to the latest figures from the Lao Trade Portal website on Wednesday.
This is the ninth consecutive month for the Asian country this year,
The total trade value for September recorded over $1 billion, with exports amounting to $455 million and imports totalling $609 million.
Key export products for Laos include mixed gold, electric equipment, rubber, paper, salt, wood shavings, copper ore, bananas, sugar, and cassava.
Major import items include diesel, mechanical equipment, land vehicles, electrical appliances, steel, chemicals, vehicle spare parts, plastic products, beverages, and gasoline.
China, Vietnam, and Thailand are the primary export destinations for Lao products. Meanwhile, the country’s major import sources include Thailand, China, and Vietnam.
