South Africa’s producer price index (PPI) for final manufactured goods decreased 0.7 per cent year-on-year in October 2024. This indicates a 0.7 per cent decline in prices from September 2024 to October 2024.
The primary contributors to this annual decline were the basic and fabricated metals sector, which contributed 2.5 percentage points, and the chemicals, rubber, and plastic products sector, which contributed 2.2 percentage points.
