CNG Egypt boosts renewable industry with $300m Sokhna facility
CNG Egypt New Energy Glass, a subsidiary of China Glass Holding, launched on Thursday a $300 million project to expand solar panels production in the Sokhna Industrial Zone under the TEDA-Egypt industrial developer.
The project includes two production lines: one for flat glass with a daily capacity of 1,000 tons and another for photovoltaic glass, both used in producing solar panels, with a capacity of 800 tons per day.
Spanning 500,000 square metres, the facility is expected to create 1,000 jobs upon completion.
Chairman of SCZONE, Waleid Gamal El-Dien, described the project as a significant step in the collaboration between SCZONE and Chinese investments, highlighting its role in bolstering renewable energy-related industries.
He highlighted SCZONE’s strategic location and infrastructure as key factors in attracting nearly 200 Chinese companies, with six new projects announced during his promotional visit to China last September, totalling $1.067 billion in investments.
