India’s annual inflation rate based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose to 1.89 per cent year-on-year in November 2024 from 0.39 per cent in the same month last year, according to provisional data from the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
This positive rate of inflation was primarily driven by increased prices in food articles, food products, other manufacturing, textiles, machinery & equipment, and other sectors, the report added.
However, on a month-over-month basis, the WPI for November 2024 declined by 0.06 per cent compared to October 2024. This indicates a slight cooling in inflationary pressures during the month.
