European shares up on Wednesday

European shares rose on Wednesday as investors analysing euro area inflation data and awaiting the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision due later the day.

The pan-European STOXX 600 gained 0.32 per cent, with Germany’s DAX up 0.23 per cent and France’s CAC 40 rising 0.24 per cent.

In the UK, the FTSE 100 increased by 0.10 per cent, driven by energy stocks following inflation figures.

Spain’s IBEX 35 outperformed, adding 0.41 per cent.
