Standard Chartered Bank gets custodian membership on EGX
The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) officially approved on Thursday the registration of Standard Chartered Bank as a custodian member, as per a statement by the EGX.
During its meeting on December 18, 2024, Membership Committee No. 15 issued Decision No. 101, granting Standard Chartered Bank its listing under Membership Code 5005. This approval aligns with the EGX membership rules outlined in Decision No. 156 of 2014 by the EGX Chairman.
The bank’s registration is also supported by the Egyptian Central Securities Depository (ECSD), which issued the associated code. This move further strengthens the EGX’s ability to cater to international financial institutions and enhances its operational capabilities in the securities and custody services sector.
Standard Chartered’s entry into the EGX as a custodian reflects the exchange’s ongoing efforts to expand its network and attract prominent global players, boosting Egypt’s appeal as a hub for financial services and investment.
