China launches ’24-’35 plan to improve whole grain consumption

China initiated a plan for 2024-2035 on Tuesday that urges local governments to adopt policies promoting increased consumption of whole grains, aiming to improve food security.

The plan, issued by the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration and other government departments, also urges companies and social capital to create funds to support the whole grain industry’s integration.

Whole grains maintain their seed structure, preserving nutrients and active substances, while whole grain foods are mainly composed of whole grains with a specific content ratio as per the plan.
