Malaysia’s producer price index (PPI) declined by 0.4 per cent in November 2024, following a 2.4 per cent drop in the previous month, official data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) showed on Tuesday.
The mining sector experienced a significant fall of 8.3 per cent in November 2024, although this was less severe than the 17.3 per cent decline in October 2024. The Extraction of crude petroleum index led this decline, falling by 14.8 per cent.
The manufacturing sector decreased by 1.8 per cent in November 2024, with notable drops in the manufacture of coke & refined petroleum products (-16.8 per cent) and chemicals & chemical products (-5.1 per cent).
