Egypt grants golden licence to Huhtamaki for EGP1.5b fiberboard packaging plant

The Egyptian Cabinet approved on Thursday the granting of a golden licence to Huhtamaki Egypt, a limited liability company, to establish and operate a factory for the production and distribution of fiberboard packaging. The decision was announced during the Cabinet’s 28th ministerial meeting.

The factory, covering approximately 21.7 thousand square metres in Sadat City, Menoufia Governorate, will produce a variety of packaging products, including fruit containers, cup holders, and egg cartons.

The project, which involves an investment of about 1.5 billion Egyptian pounds, including €24 million in foreign investment, aims to export 70 per cent of its production to international markets.

Moreover, the factory will also deepen local manufacturing, with approximately 70 per cent of its components sourced domestically. This project will further enhance Egypt’s position in the sustainable packaging sector, contributing to the transfer of advanced technologies and innovation in the industry.
